We are a broad, growing coalition of individuals, businesses, and organizations from across Illinois who oppose the deceptive and damaging Proposed Income Tax Hike Amendment that will appear on the November 2020 statewide ballot.

Krishna Balakrishnan is the owner of the Parke Regency Hotel & Conference Center. He migrated to the United States in 2001 to earn a master’s degree in Computer Science at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. After working as a system analyst for Mercedes Benz Financial for six years, Krishna moved to Bloomington, IL, to continue his work as a system analyst for State Farm Insurance where he’s been for the last 12 years. During his professional career, Krishna launched his entrepreneurial life, starting a food product important company in 2004. In 2008, he purchased the hotel and other real estate interests around the state. In 2020, Krishna started an AI temperature scanning company and has been working with schools, businesses, and municipalities to help the fight against COVID-19 and safely re-open businesses. He is on the executive board of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce, a board member in the Bloomington-Normal Sunrise Rotary, a trustee in the Hindu Temple of Bloomington-Normal and founder of the McClean County Tamil Sangam and AKTP Language School.

Kevin Breheny is a community leader and past president of JL Hubbard Insurance and Bonds. While President, JL Hubbard Insurance and Bonds received the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year award in 2017. Kevin has been in a number of local philanthropic efforts including the WSOY Community Food Drive, St. Teresa High School Capital Campaign that raised more than $2.5 million to build new science and art wings, and the Decatur Celebration Revitalization Committee. Kevin was named Decatur’s Citizen of the Year in 2019. He was also named to the list of Top Influencers of 2019 by Now Decatur.

Latonya Brock is fearless, passionate, and clings to her faith in every walk of life. She is responsible for identifying solutions that enhance the business climate in her community, which includes being a diligent advocate for the business community. She is a sought-out leader for consulting and facilitating leadership and diversity & inclusion workshops and business conversations. Latonya is a trailblazer in presenting and championing the business case for D&I in her community. Over her 28+ years of leadership, Latonya has worked in multiple leadership positions in the financial industry. Latonya has experienced a high level of success in sales management, professional development of others, team engagement, organizational leadership, and strategic thinking, which led to the enhancement of revenue for the organization. Latonya's passion extends to her community. She has served on several nonprofit boards; currently, she is the board chair for Cornerstone Foundation for Families, and Rotary Club of Quincy and serves on United Community Credit Union board. Latonya has founded three faith-based ministries and volunteers countless hours in various roles. She has her undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies (Indiana Wesleyan University), Diversity & Inclusion Certificate (Cornell University), and currently enrolled in the graduate program at Quincy University, obtaining a degree in counseling, focusing on mental health. Latonya was a finalist in Indy's Best and Brightest (2013), named Quincy Hometown Hero (2017), and received a Community Service Award (2019).

Today, Vantage Outsourcing serves nationwide, providing clients with state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment, trained ophthalmic surgical technicians, implants, and surgical supplies. INC Magazine has presented Ann with the prestigious entrepreneur award for the “Fastest Growing Small Business of the Year.” The national publication later recognized her leadership abilities a second time with a feature entitled, “The Fully Managed Family.” Ann has been recognized by ASC Communications as one of the “Top People To Know” in the ASC industry and was nominated as “Woman To Know”. In Jan 2020, she was named “Citizen of the Year” by her local community. Ann is a dedicated and passionate businesswoman who takes pride in balancing her business, family, volunteering locally and abroad, and sitting on multiple state and corporate boards.

He grew on the north side of Chicago, a product of junior college and trade school in Chicagoland. He has built a career as a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating over 10 successful small businesses in Illinois. He's an active member of his community, working with Project HOOD and Operation Dessert Smoothie, a nutritional awareness program. He lives in Glenview with his wife and kids.

During his career, he has held the positions of Sales Representative, Sales Manager, Divisional Manager, General Manager of Sales and Vice President of Sales. Michael has worked with multiple Manufacturers of Steel including those producing: Carbon and Alloy Hot Rolled Bars, Stainless Steel Bars as well as Cold Finished Bars. Currently, Michael serves as Vice President of Commercial for SSWI the parent company of Niagara LaSalle, Corey Steel, and Michigan Seamless Tube. Michael has supported Marmion Academy in Aurora, IL as well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Matt Eggemeyer serves as CEO and owner of Keats Manufacturing, a family-run manufacturing business specializing in precision metal stamping that has been in operation since 1958. Keats Manufacturing started out as a small storefront plant with just three employees and two machines and since has significantly grown to meet the demand. Keats now has three facilities, including their main facility in Wheeling, Illinois. Matt and his 28 years of experience in the manufacturing profession, is also working to educate young people on job opportunities in the manufacturing sector. Matt works with local school boards to educate high school students on these opportunities through an internship program at Keats Manufacturing.

Bob Gottfred is President and owner of Erie-LaSalle Body Shop & Car Care Center, a family business that he inherited from his stepfather that he now runs with his son. Erie-LaSalle Body Shop opened in 1934 and is the oldest auto body repair operation in Illinois. Bob joined the business in 1976 after he had made a solid career in the restaurant industry. Bob serves on the executive board of the River North Business Association.

Habeeb Habeeb is a business owner and founder of the H-Squared Leadership Institute, an organization focused on helping people pursue excellence. Habeeb is also the former CEO and operating partner of BPC, an employee benefits administration firm that was a repeat winner of “Best Places to Work” in Illinois. Habeeb came to Illinois in 1973 from his home country of Lebanon to attend Olivet Nazarene University. After civil war broke out in Lebanon, Habeeb was separated from his family and had to remain in the US. He started working at Arby’s in Bradley, Illinois, starting from nothing. He finished his education as an adult and earned an MBS from Eastern Illinois University. Habeeb has held numerous volunteer leadership roles such as the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Champaign County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, board chairman for Champaign County First, The Illinois Chamber Healthcare Council, and the Employer’s Council on Flexible Compensation Board of Directors.

Kaylee Heap serves as the Business Manager for a grain cooperative based in Northern Illinois. In this role, she focuses on company processes and provides technology solutions to fulfill the needs of both employees and customers. Kaylee and her husband operate a fall agritourism business, where they welcome the public to their farm for fall activities such as a corn maze and pumpkin picking. They grow and sell pumpkins, gourds, squash, mums, sunflowers, zinnias, and other fall produce in addition to growing traditional row crops such as corn and soybeans. Kaylee has been immersed in the agriculture industry since she met her husband over 12 years ago. Growing up in a suburban community, her parents were small business owners, introducing Kaylee to the passion and hard work required to succeed as entrepreneurs. These values have translated to her life on the farm today, where she and her husband cultivated his childhood dream of an agritourism business into a reality. Kaylee was Chair of the Illinois Farm Bureau State Young Leader Committee in 2019 and also was District 5 Representative of the Illinois Farm Bureau State Young Leader Committee from 2016 to 2019. Kaylee resides in Northern Illinois with her husband and two young boys.

Tricia Herrera is the co-owner of Ralfie’s BBQ & Catering. Tricia is a Rochelle community leader, serving on the Downtown Rochelle Association, Rochelle Re-Imagined’s brand leadership team, and Board President of the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce. In response to the pandemic, Tricia teamed up with a Rochelle bakery to set up an online meal donation program for first responders. They delivered meals to the Rochelle Veterinary Hospital, Rochelle Community Hospital, Rochelle Street Department, and a Rock River Valley Blood Drive, Stock & Field, Shell gas station, Amboy Grocery, Americold, ALDI, Ace Hardware, and other local businesses that remain essential.

She began elementary school not knowing how to speak English and completed her education in 1998 from Illinois State University with a double major in Marketing and International Business. Five Senses Spa, Salon & Barbershop has been recognized nationally by Salon Today magazine as a “Top 200 Spa and Salon in North America” for several years and has been awarded as a “2018 Salon of the Year ~ Top 20 Salon of Distinction” in North America by the magazine.

Wade is an active member of the Technology Manufacturing Association, believing that a key to their and the industry's growth is a strong training resource like the TMA. Wade is a graduate of Curry College and New Trier High School.

Immediately after graduating high school, he went into the plumbing field as a laborer and then an apprentice. After becoming a journeyman plumber, Chris continued to become a master journeyman plumber. Spending ten years at Donti Plumbing, a third-generation family business, he joined a small plumbing company seeking more career advancement. After working with Reeg Plumbing for 13 years and helping the company grow, Chris purchased the business with the help of the Obama Administration’s SBA loan program. Due to hard work and perseverance, after he purchased the company, it has grown from 2,500 clients to more than 13,000 clients.

Before becoming a realtor, she was in community banking for 13 years and led the refinancing of hundreds of lower-middle-class family homes while managing a local branch. Before entering her professional banking career, Dionna served in the U.S. Air Force. She is a product of the Chicago Public School system, and the daughter and sister of Chicago Police Officers. She is a first-generation German American.

The foundation’s goal is to help those in need. The Tony Reyes Family Foundation supports organizations that focus on helping sick children and their families, supporting abused women and children, supporting returning military veterans, and the education of young men and women. The organizations that have received grants from the Tony Reyes Foundation range from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana, Winfield Knights of Columbus Council 8002, Misericordia, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, and the Lazarus House.

Jackie is a nationally recognized leader in the LGBTQ community and travels around the country speaking and advocating for LGBTQ advancement. Jackie participated in the first construction roundtable at the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Jackie is also active at Howard Brown Health, including its lesbian community cancer project, and is involved in retaining top donor companies.

As a Woman Business Owner, these Certifications are extremely helpful in accessing Government & Business Contracts. Crystal has served as the Vice-President of the Quincy NAACP chapter and received the Community Leader Award of the Year in 2010. Crystal served as the Executive Director of the Redmon & Lee Community Youth Center from 11/2004 – 12/2013. She served as a member of the Illinois Minority Diversity Council located in Macomb, Illinois.
